THE INDIA NEURO INTERVENTIONAL FOUNDATION (INIF)
WE ARE NEUROINTERVENTION, WE ARE RELENTLESS
The India Neurointerventional Foundation was formed in August 2005 by Dr. Uday Limaye, Sanjiv Gandhi and Dr. Arani Bose with a vision to…
- Carry out activities which aim to propagate the rising significance of neurointerventional science.
- Have an official curriculum and recognized training courses/diplomas in the field of Neurointervention.s
- Spread the awareness about the increasing prevalence of Stroke in particular and other neurovascular diseases in general in the Indian population.
- Carry out humanitarian activities of charitable nature intended for social and economic advancement.
INIF is aiming at maximizing its contribution to the field of Neurointervention, with focused activities, which will be undertaken in a phased manner. In this regard we have undertaken numerous educational activities for practicing and budding Neurointerventionists. These include the Monsoon Meetings and the classroom teaching course “Circle of Willis & Other Things…” We also look forward to having increased interaction and associations with global experts and visionaries to make significant impact on the Indian Neurointerventional scenario in the years to come.

AAFITN 2027
India is poised to host Asian Australasian Federation of Interventional & Therapeutic Neuro radiology 2027, given its rich legacy and remarkable growth in neurointervention over the past four decades. The roots of the specialty in India go back to the 1980s, when pioneering work at KEM, AIIMS, Sri Chitra and NIMHANS institutions introduced embolization, detachable balloons, and endovascular techniques to the country. From those formative years, India has steadily built world-class expertise, training programs, and strong academic societies such as ISNR, ISVIR, STNI, SNVI and the INIF Foundation. With over 45 years of evolution, India now represents one of the fastest-growing ecosystems for neurointervention in Asia—offering not only cutting-edge clinical practice but also a vibrant platform for education and research. Hosting AAFITN 2027 here would honor this journey, showcase India’s contributions to the global neurointervention community, and inspire the next generation of specialists across the region.
Flagship Initiatives

The Monsoon Meeting
Affectionately known as the “Complications Meet”, this one-of-a-kind academic gathering has become a cornerstone of INIF’s educational mission. In 2025, the Monsoon Meeting marked its 20th edition, a significant milestone that reflects its enduring relevance and impact. The meeting provides a candid and open forum where experts dissect real-world complications and challenges, fostering learning through shared experience.

Circle of Willis & Other Things...
A classroom teaching course designed to strengthen both foundational and advanced concepts in neurointervention.

Mumbai INR Monthly Meetings
The Mumbai INR (Interventional Neuroradiology) Monthly Meeting, which began in 2000, has clearly built a strong legacy as a consistent platform for discussing complex neurointervention cases. Its focus on complications and shared learning is especially valuable, since those are often where the most practical insights come from. Being a hybrid meeting (both in-person and virtual) also makes it more accessible, allowing a wider community of specialists to participate, collaborate, and stay updated regardless of location.
